1. What is the difference between convergence and divergence? Give an example to support. Convergence is when somebody changes their language in order to fit in with another group i.e. changing your language to be more professional when in a meeting as apposed to when you're out talking to your friends - people use this so they are able to relate to the group of people and can fit in. Divergence is when somebody keeps the same language throughout no matter who they're talking about. They may use this to distance themselves. This is very apparent in the younger generations as they try to create their own identity and thrive to be a lot more independent. 2. What's the name of Gile's theory and what year was in done in?
